Minutes

Previous Meetings Minutes

Previous Action Items

Monthly briefs

  • In an effort to make monthly briefs easier the draft for each brief is in the staff section of discourse
    • alas only admins have access, so not workable for NC to use
    • Not all NC are admins on discourse
    • In light of this, email [email protected] with anything and everything that you want in the brief.
  • someone whinged about the bird pictures, so next month the bird pictures get their own section in "The Monthly Squawk" and there'll be more

Bank accounts

  • Ben tied up with returns
  • Signatory forms send to Brisbane... unsure why, should not have needed to?
    • MarkG to follow up.
  • Brendan will be putting in the necessary expense claims on the server costs from the last month or two in a few days.
    • ideally he will never have to do this again (by next month)

Shirts for Pozible

PPI progress

  • https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/PPI:_Statutes_Review in happening
  • PPI has called the online GA without considering our recommendations.
    • We shall just pretend that there's no bad blood here and have statute amendments prepared
    • We'll do what we can and if we fail, so be it
  • We have to vote in their "doodle" to choose a time for the mumble meeting they're having which we will do even though the meeting is not the format we desire
    • consensus is that people are ok with the IR team choosing the time.
    • Brendan proposing we accept two dates in December as anything else is too late, or too early.
      • 13/14 Dec, 20/21 Dec
    • So far only PPNZ and us have responded.
  • PPCZ got the highest vote in local elections recently

Disband Congress Review Committee

  • There has been little to no interest from anyone in getting this off the ground
    • See motions

Reconsider purpose of General Meeting

  • Very few people beyond a couple NC show up to these anymore.
    • Possibly due to detailed monthly briefs, engaging forums and people chatting the rest of the time when it suits them
  • Brendan proposing that we should retarget it as a monthly live discussion of some kind
    • Where we discuss deeper topics that are better discussed live like emerging policy areas
    • Consensus is that this is worth trying
  • General meeting originally was really a placeholder to broadcast to members, forum etc is doing the job now

General Business

  • 29 Oct, Brendan is going to Australian Parliament to sign an anti-data retention document with a bunch of other supporting organisations
    • LDP, Greens and Xenophon are making a big thing about it
    • a signed letter to AG and Shadow AG from random orgs opposing data retention
    • people welcome to come (not a random call though, more invite only)
  • Discussion about QLD looking at recruiting motorcycle enthusiasts
    • We don't want to target bikies or specifically recruit via motorcycle groups
    • We don't want bulk member signups on a club basis, would rather individuals who agree with our principles and policies
  • Coordinators are to please discuss recruitment ideas with the NC prior to enacting anything
  • A general voice based informal catchup meeting with Brandon re QLD scheduled for next Thursday: 8.30pm AEDT (7.30pm QLD)
  • Note Qld has enough members as per the ToR to start forming the branch proper
  • From now on, let us host NC meetings 8.30pm AEDT
  • Binary Lane stuffed up & deleted our join server for a while
    • it is back now, no data lost.
  • There is a PUP senate inquiry into QLD govt that is taking submissions til November
    • In two minds,
      • if you want to do a response, you can call the inquiry a farce, but also point out no other mechanism for review has been provided.
      • 1. Something is rotten in the state of Queensland, and the inquiry can address this;
      • 2. However, would rather not dance to the PuP's tune either and provide them with any further legitimacy
    • if you want to make a sub, just write it and have the NC review it.
  • New design@ email address created
  • Fletcher has requested admin access to website (as per last meetings access motion)
  • Over 80 new members in the Pay what you want promotion/drive.
