Strategy Meeting re TPP and Website Blocking.

Ahoy!

With the success of previous strategy meetings, we have decided to call an open Strategy meeting to discuss the urgent topics of defeating the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) and the first piracy website blocking cases.

This meeting will be held on Tuesday 23 February 2016 at 8:30pm (AEDT) in the #ppau IRC channel, which can be accessed here: https://pirateparty.org.au/irc/

The minutes from the previous Fundraising strategy meeting that was held Wednesday February 10 can be found here: https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/Minutes/Strategy_Meeting/2016-02-10

TPP

The TPP has been tabled in Federal Parliament and we have until Friday March 11 to submit our opposition to the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties (JSCOT) and to apply pressure to parliamentarians of all persuasions to put a stop to this. We need your help in both helping to provide substantial criticism to the agreement and to brainstorm ideas to apply pressure to stop the agreement from being ratified.

Website Blocking

Village Roadshow has announced that it is proceeding with legal action to block movie streaming website SolarMovie.ph. This is the first test case of the website blocking legislation passed by parliament last year. It is expected that Foxtel will also soon put forward cases to block a range of other sites including The Pirate Bay.

We need to formulate a response to this. Opposing censorship is a vital part of what we do and our response needs to be as effective as possible.
