Hello Pirates,

A few weeks ago I unofficially began communicating to members that we had begun negotiating the terms of a hybrid coalition/merger with other Australian minor parties to take us into the next election. This extends a proposal from the July 2021 National Congress, where a formal motion was passed by the party regarding joint tickets and campaigning. The negotiations have since been a success and we now have enough information about the proposed structure to put it to the Party for discussion, debate and voting.

The first stage will be an online community meeting held on Friday October 15th, 7pm AEDT to answer all your questions and give a presentation on what the merged structure will look like (if we are happy to proceed). The meeting will be held on BigBlueButton, a private and encrypted video teleconference platform hosted by Pirate Parties International. Feel free to test the service any time, but note that it’s shared with the European pirates.

The second stage will be an Extraordinary National Congress to be held over the weekend of November 20th-21st to formally vote on whether to proceed with the merger, along with a number of other items. Further information on the ENC and how to participate will be coming shortly.
