Minutes

PO Box

  • Moving PO box regularly not feasible.
  • Business redirection too expensive ($400+).
  • Needs to be checked regularly after AEC registration submitted - location accessible to Brendan preferable.
  • Will be revisited next NC meeting.

Melbourne/PPAU-VIC

  • Brendan spoke to Mark Street on Saturday.
  • Only candidate so far is David Haidon.
  • No contact yet as of this NC meeting.

Ronan Lee

  • Ronan is refusing to disclose people he has contacted.
  • 2 of the 4 people contacted are known to the NC.
  • Issue resolved; no further action.

Mailing lists

  • Balance between privacy of members and transparency.
  • Discussion lists will be made private to prevent their appearance on search and engines and to protect the privacy of posters; Announcement lists will remain public, as with PWG.

Registration Working Group Update

  • 40% verification rate
  • Approx 350/850 verified.
  • AEC form is sensitive to spelling mistakes, middle names, change of address etc - this is only a check that membership data exactly matches AEC records.
  • 500 will be verified at the AEC offices - data security is an issue
  • The 350 verified will be informed their details will be used for the purposes of AEC registration; the remainder will be e-mailed by the RWG and contacted by phone.
  • Many people blindly ignore/mark as read/spam-bin/filter emails, so requests to check enrolment details are relatively unsuccessful.

Freedom Not Fear

  • September 15th @ Hyde Park from 12.00pm.
  • BBQ, speakers, worlshops, music.
  • No power, Sydney Council being difficult. Possibility of hiring a generator.

Campaigns Committee

  • Creation of the Creative Services Work Group, to be managed by the Campaigns Committee
  • Advertisement of new positions.
  • Information about prior campaigns to be sent to Thomas Randle's email.

Storage of backup data offshore

  • Amazon S3 is the most cost effective
  • Data encrypted before and during transfer
  • May be subject to Patriot Act
