Minutes

Previous meeting's minutes

Congress

  • IT has checked out the venue, wifi and reception seem ok.
    • Arranging PA.
    • Will forward some pics of venue.
  • So far have had about 19 online RSVP's and 8 in person (not including any NC)
  • About half of people have donated and a number have paid more than the recommended $35.
    • so far have raised about $444
  • Frew will follow up with mpesce but unlikely due to scheduling & other commitments
  • Daniel will get some cardboard for voting cards
  • Venue has TV Screens but a projector and screen might be a good idea due to room layout
  • Ben and Mark to work on the Financial Report
  • Reminder to nominate for officer positions if you plan to do so, encourage others too.
  • Ponder some Discussion topics
    • Simon to post to forum
    • mention in next reminder email
  • Also need think of some venues for dinners etc if we wish to formalise anything
  • Clarification NC voting on floor at congress
    • NC have a vote, just don't tend to exercise unless needed
    • Chair arguably shouldn't vote

Tasmania proposal

  • Brendan proposes a visit to Tasmania to assist with Tas branch setup etc
    • See motions regarding flight costs

NSW local rego Status/update

  • Not likely to make cut off for NSW local election registration.
    • about 10 forms short of 100, but even then would need a buffer.
    • NSWEC then needs to *post* forms to each of those 100 to then fill out a survey form and *post* back those survey forms confirming they are indeed a member
      • This on top of the paper forms we've already received/will submit.
    • Then NSWEC needs 2 week period to Gazette the party rego for objection time etc.
  • Too short a time frame, if had the 100+ forms by now may have been just barely doable, but being just short not going to happen
  • Still worth doing for processes and to build toward next time and once that 100 is reached still submit so it's 'ready to go' for next time around (barring audits)

    • If people want this sent then it needs to be written/worked on
    • Diplomatic please, a request for comment/info
  • There was a bit of debate between Mark and Nick C reading this online arising from a blog article Nick wrote.
  • General debate about GVTs and benefit or problems with
    • are they bad bad, or best option until we get better reforms?
