Minutes

Previous meeting's minutes

  • Minutes held over, not yet marked up to wiki.

DRC By-Law

Greens Meeting

  • DanielJ and Frew met with Victorian Greens State Director Larissa Brown in Sydney yesterday (at her request)
  • Just a general meetup, maintain dialogue sort of meeting
  • Discussed our politics, methods, preference determination, internal voting system etc
    • We made the case for an royal commission into electoral reform.
    • They are taking the issue and RC idea to the parliamentary faction
  • Frew suggests we keep up such meetings and attempt to meet with other parties to press our issues/ideas.
    • We have offers from the ALP to meet.

Warchest Campaign

  • We had a member suggest asking for a lot of small weekly or fortnightly donations from members, which could be a good idea for a second phase
  • Also the proposed CS:GO tournament against reddit members.
  • MarkG reports some money coming in including one large $1500 donation plus a couple smaller ones
  • The money from the Canning Pozible campaign has come through.
  • We will want to step things up as the election gets nearer but its not going badly
  • DanielJ to tweak the cash graph graphic to reflect current status.
  • Mark suggests that this NC should try to leave a decent warchest as a legacy
  • NOte we also need to look into Tender and Staff member expenses as well
    • Hopefully these will result in income generation as well, but will need enough up front to cover it
    • Treasury to look in to additional staff costs beyond the cost of wages
    • Also need to start work soon on acual job description
  • Shall attempt to discuss some of these details further at next strategy meeting

Tender

  • We are still inthe answering questions phase... there was also one vague question which wasnt addressed by anyone
    • it's up to the proposals to cover the security reqs, if we want to add other checks on top later we can
    • opinion that off the shelf products of the like described are more of a risk to us, especially anything proprietary
  • We need to work out how to fund it...
    • Also need to seek possibility of other groups chipping in.

T-Shirts

  • range of quotes as per email
    • 50 = $595 ( $11.90 per unit )
    • 60 = $660 ( $11 per unit )
    • 100 = $1000 ( $10 per unit )
    • 200 = $1840 ( $9.2 per unit )
    • Delivery $25 to $55 depending on qty
  • Consensus to go for the x200 so as to also have stock for online sales
    • expenditure on these can be recovered via sales
  • size ratio derived from past orders
  • also MarkG's Merchandise plan from last year circulated.
  • size percentages for 200 shirts: S 10% / M 15% / L 30% / XL 20% / XXL 20% (5% other, eg Ladies sizes etc)
  • Some debate over "Ladies" sizes, decided to slightly increas number of these sizes in order
  • See motions

Member mails

  • Frew was talkiing to Brendan last week and he said it was hard to know what the party was up to, and we have always been crappy at regular communication with members
  • Frew suggests regular mails to members agian - thinks these would be best linked with NC meetings, can include minutes (when they are done) and what we are up to
  • Has drafted up the first one, it isnt finished though http://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/membermail20151028
  • Some debate about spending making HTML version of email having extra 'more engaging' markup etc
    • Decided to keep in simple for now
  • Suggestion for a set regular schedule
    • Decided to aim for week of NC meetings, but specific day left ad hoc due to difficulties of work/family committments to ensure a certain day/time

Strategy meeting

  • Another of these next Wednesday?
    • 8:30pm in #ppau-nc
  • Last one was useful... people who missed the last one, try and come along

General Business

  • What's our view on North Sydney/Hockey's seat by-election
    • It would be a good hook for exposure
    • But No candidate offering to run
    • Too much else on our plate at the moment to be worth trying to run another by-election campaign at this stage.
    • Focus on aiming for the next Federal Election at this stage, plus the certain admin things that need be dealt with.
