Minutes

QLD election? thoughts and preferences? The U.S. presidential election is popular, should we have a formal position? (they're both geriatric turdballs IMO) (Adopting a formal position on other countries' political environment, however obvious, seems odd for an Australian party that's not in power - Pip) Aussie Media has been giving a lot of news space to it, so there's that. Oddly, many Australians seem more interested in US politics than our own.

  • Extension gifted due to Groom by-election
  • Phone banking: still todo
    • Miles to take the lead
  • Holding steady presently re member numbers, but need more

Qld election

  • "for the last few weeks [Miles] has been waging a personal war on Qld Labor"
  • this shitposting has resulted in 2000% relevance increase for Miles' page
  • interviews with Ed Caroll (Progressives, but indie) and local Legalise Cannabis candidate
  • context for others: 2017 saw first Greens MP elected,
  • two others came close, same candidates this time with good chance of winning
  • Labor is... unhappy about this
  • Likely chance of minority govt
  • Alex suggests that Labor will look to negotiate with KAP over the Greens

NENA conference

  • John was hoping to give a presentation at the NENA conference, either on IP or UBI
  • incorporating the PPAU point of view
  • "their public persona of 'facilitating activism' apparently doesn't extend to minor party activists"
  • they wanted "John August" not "John August, from PPAU"
  • suffice to say John isn't giving a talk now
  • Further discussion with organisers to be had
