Fusion branch representative

  • The Fusion DRC are currently investigating this; are happy for me to continue in the role until such time as they make a ruling; and have also instructed me to say no more on the matter. - Miles
    • Petar confirms.
    • John & Tyrone note that members have concerns/reservations about the whole Fusion affiliation given recent events.
    • Miles: as someone who's been involved since before it was Fusion, the party still has my support. We need only to show up.

Pirate Identity Survey

  • In the process of setting up a temp VPS with LimeSurvey to run it all
  • No timeframe yet, medium priority

Privacy Breach Awards

  • Nominations phase and voting phase
  • "Let's get back to our roots, make some noise on privacy" - Miles
  • John: I think we should have several categories (government/private/international x abuse/stuff-up x 2022 / last three years)
    • Let's also think we can allow community input without allowing any particular interest to swing the vote
  • John wants a theatrical awards ceremony with special guests from e.g. APF and volunteers to host
    • Opportunity for individual members to give commentary to camera on specific items
  • Need someone to be promo director
  • Probably three press releases in this - announcing nominations, announcing voting on (filtered) nominations, announcing winners (basically the awards ceremony transcript)

Aus Republic speaker event (Fusion)

  • Miles has floated this and Fusion exec seem supportive
  • Not historically a core Pirate issue, good for coalition building

General Business

  • John and Andrew will be in Perth soon!
  • Saturday 28th (see #wa channel)
  • Fusion Brissie meetup then too
  • Pirate PDC meeting 2023-01-31 20:00 AEDT

  • URGENT MOTION: endorse the appointment of Miles Whiticker as the Pirate branch representative to the Fusion executive committee, substituting for David Kennedy whether by deputisation or by filling a casual vacancy.
