Correspondence, reports, and action items completed

  • Tyrone D'Lisle has resigned from the National Council and as Policy Development Officer
  • John has sent some things out about Privacy Breach Awards but no solid takers yet
  • Going over the Trello

Pirate Festival of Foolishness

  • Miles plans to run a stall, give some talks, run a cryptoparty
    • Not really an electoral-politics-friendly space, more anarchist
    • Stall is OK though
  • Unfortunately, the by-election is the same day
  • Simon G: yeah, it is unfortunate. I'm putting heart and soul into the Aston campaign and Owen is well aligned with PPAU

VIP Update

  • Still talking, taking it slow
  • Positive, they're just busy

PDC reportback

  • Two items discussed tonight
    • NIT rework
    • Brumbies
    • Both ready for work-up by their proponents for Policy Motions at Congress

Discussion items

Fusion Vision Statement

  • Fusion EC asked Miles to share his personal vision for the committee

Miles said:

1. Fusion should have a clear goal for social change to work towards. 2. Fusion should support personal development and moral reasoning. 3. Fusion should be in integrity with itself. External engagement/comms/campaigning should be a reflection of internal culture/processes/structure. 4. Pirates support decentralisation, direct democracy and civil liberties.

Petar Johnson proposed the following in response:

1. Annual Business Plan, strategy and implementation methods. 2. PDC work and events for dialogue. Code of conduct and internal culture. 3. Same as 1. 4. Same as 1, but extend to ensure that autonomy and diversity of activity can be accommodated under the banner. There are 100 different ways of doing this so why not accept at least 90 different ways.

Bureaucracy as the fallback to productive informal culture.

Fusion general

  • Contesting the Aston by-election
    • Owen Miller the candidate
    • Simon G campaign manager
    • All assistance appreciated!
  • Attended the Mardi Gras fair day in Sydney
    • Full report available, looked pretty successful in terms of engagement
  • Pushing towards state branches
  • Procedure for negotiations with other parties
  • Looking to establish a business plan kind of thing
  • Doesn't look like Fusion-affiliated people will be contesting NSW-state
    • Remember, NSW state parties had to be registered by June 2022
    • Should at least put recommendations/scorecards out
      • Can do it in our own right as PPAU if Fusion won't

General Business

Brasil coup press release

Actions going forward

  • Awards still need to be shortlisted
