Fusion Updates
- A VIP guest at the Fusion monthly members meeting yesterday!
- Enthusiastic, supportive, offered feedback.
- Some critique of "deep ecology" from a traditional eco-feminist perspective.
- Visioning process stage 1 complete, stage 2 mostly complete.
- There's value in doing the process; achieving consensus remains an active effort.
- Adam: where can Pirates show up and get involved?
- Visioning and PDC opening up (coming out of closed beta)
- Member drive is nominally over, needs a retrospective
Discussion items
Press release defaults update
- Background: we put out a PR, it was pointed out that the PR doesn't mention anything about Fusion
- Alex offered to develop some stock wording to the purpose for future PRs
- At a minimum, state "Pirate Party Australia is a founding branch of FUSION: Science, Pirate, Secular, Climate Emergency."
- This can go in the footer.
- Semi-optional second sentence: "Fusion's platform draws on the expertise of each of its constituent branches."
- Third sentence:
- "For more information about Fusion, visit fusionparty.org.au"
National Congress organisation
- Asked Bryn to help with stream
- Standard reminder that nominations are in fact open
- There's a reminder email that needs sending ("two weeks to go")
- Milspec has done a large amount of work on an updated tax and welfare policy
- AJ to help drafting the motion and wikifying the policy proposal
- Anticipated process of using floor motions to include (or exclude) specific sections, rather than putting exponentially many mutually-exclusive amendment proposals
- Jay has added the motion to rejoin PPI
- todo: pre-announced rationale
- Alex had intended to put a CAP to enable membership database merger, but outright forgot
- Branch rep: currently listed as a separate officer position, but we could adopt a by-law to just make it be "the national council, in this order of choice."
