National Council meeting 21st January 2021

Previous Minutes

Membership Audit

  • AEC granted a last-minute two-month extension to March 18th
  • need another 120 for comfort
  • 50 joined/renewed in January so far
  • still heaps of people available to call even if the success rate is not very good
  • some discussion of CATI/voip/autodialer things, conclusion that we don't really need it at this scale

Banking update

  • itshappening.gif
  • Alex went to the bank again on Tuesday
  • forms are signed and on their way
  • waiting on ANZ to get John and Mark in to their respective branches to sign them now, basically

Pirate Live

  • no news is good news
  • Miles has been chatting about potential future topics
  • hoping to do a climate change one next

Local Crews / privacy policy rewrite

  • "not really an action item for now but please start thinking about ways local crews can happen again, we need them" - Alex
  • John is doing Speaker's corner etc :)
  • "what I really want is for local branch participation to be expected, just like any other party worth their salt"
  • O weeks very pricey, local markets more OK, Alex less afraid of throwing money at the problem now
  • John raises internal comms, Alex remembers that he signed up to overhaul the privacy policy
    • localised mailing lists a good start
    • Alex to look into the memberDB/Dada communication scripts, try and set John/Fred up on the NSW/Victorian lists respectively
  • privacy policy rewrite off-track-ness
    • Brandon: "generally delete old records after 7 years" (context of resigned members)
  • "for the next two months I don't want to worry about that, I just want more general online meetings" - Alex

  • MOTION: give John August access to the NSW mailing list, and Fred Gerner access to the Victorian mailing list
