Minutes

Previous meeting's minutes

Action Items

  • Audit was done
    • Did end up having to check all 700+ on that stupid AEC form, but hopefully it'll pay off, (after the sex party debacle; glad we did)
  • PO Box stuff was done
  • Data retention pages were done
  • Fletcher still needs to send email to NC about attendance
  • Mel still needs to write up Social Media Job Description
  • DanielJ contacted UTS but had no good result
  • Ben followed up the PIN transactions and issues resolved
    • new Paypal issue distracted from sending bank balance details through, will do so

AEC audit update

  • as per Action items, all done, just awaiting result from AEC
    • DanielJ has contacted AEC to inquire as to timeframe but no response
  • Mozart will prepare a press release in anticipation of us being reaffirmed.
  • Brendan does not approve of the AEC and their processes.

Congress and so on

  • DanielJ emailed UTS on the email Brendan gave me, but they just punted me to this page and form: http://www.uts.edu.au/partners-and-community/venues-and-facilities
    • Used form; Have yet to get a response.
  • Brendan has been told USYD is basically a sure thing
    • unless shit went downhill fast we should be right
    • Brendan will follow up with USYD
  • we are still aiming for the 18th/19th as ideal or the weekend after that if need be

Paypal/banking

  • Most of this has been covered via email already
    • PayPal believes the Party is Rodney (or maybe David)
    • they might be a little confused ... to put it kindly
  • the amount of money they're holding of ours/our members has increased to a little under $450 because someone paid an invoice in the last day or so
  • If the whole thing goes to crap we can always refund them all and re-request payment later
  • While this is an annoyance for us, paypal may have broken the law with regards to those paying us by infringing their right to political participation
    • considering referring issue to AEC
    • so far paypal have said nothing
    • meanwhile Ben wants to leave the funds in the account so that can be verified by any investigators
      • we're divorcing ourselves from paypal for all other services
      • net presence will switch to an annual payment instead of monthly
      • we're in credit with Ransom IT, but ought to do the same sort of thing with them (& some other hosting bits & pieces)
      • so we're moving everything either to the bank or the card directly
      • and the once off congress stuff is normally through the bank or card too
      • so we'll be able to fight paypal with impunity
  • Someone (Who isn't Brendan) is taking a crack at implementing invoicing using Stripe

Joe and merchandise items

  • Joe has taken up a position necessitated resigning from PPAU & joining the Greens. He is still a supporter/friend etc, but wanted to be able to take up the opportunity that presented itself.
    • He is obtaining a quote from Auspost to see how much it would cost to mail the items to me here (or whatever other central location we agree upon).
    • This is basically a large collection of badges and stickers. Id already planned on raising the idea of sending a portion up here for use at congress etc, so this just means it's all of em instead of a portion of em.
    • Once he has a quote, i'd then likely raise it again to vote to approve the cost etc, but just flagging it as an current/ upcoming issue atm.
    • Although a message with him earlier today flagged that Joe may donate the cost of postage as a parting gift/donation etc

NSW local govt registration

  • Deadline to register for NSW local govt elections is 31 July 2015
  • we have 196 names from the audit of NSW people who are well confirmed
  • Brendan thinks impossible deadline, DanielJ wants to try anyway
  • some details here: http://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/nsw-localgovt-rego
  • even if it ends up being a failure it'll be a learning experience for when we attempt state
  • Need to create a state branch though - Constitution etc
  • Note: don't get too excited because excitement over registration only ever leads to disappointment
  • See Motions
    • just so there's no ambiguity as to permission, because NSW is an exceptional state

DV Working Group

  • See here: https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/Domestic_Violence_Working_Group
  • Mozart added a definition of DV.
  • Proposed initial members of the WG are: Mel (assumed), Andrew, Mozart, Frew, Ben, Emma (application via Email), and Brendan as chair
  • Intending to have the working group focus as much as possible on proving or disproving assertions
  • See Motions
