Decisions made
- Attribution rights supported, but no decision as to length of time.
- Right of integrity interferes with freedom of speech and should be either abolished or curtailed to the length of term.
- Treaties that need to be renegotiated should be listed in the Foreign Policy.
- No staggered rights (rights should stop, not gradually have their scope diminished).
- Uniform term for all works.
More research
- Threshold for originality/novelty for creative rights (similar to patent requirement).
- Addressing DRM/TPMs (discussion ongoing).
- Orphan works
Ideas canvassed
- Government body empowered to declare whether a work has been orphaned.
- Process suggested:
- Apply for a work to be declared an orphan work.
- Government body tries to contact the author.
- After a period it can be declared an orphan work.
- Might also be available as a defence.
