Minutes

Response to Arrest of Z library owners in Argentina

It was noted that as discussed at the last meeting, a press release was approved and published at [1]

Brainstorm organisations that could be invited to a regional online forum

Jay created a pad with initial ideas [2] Action: milspec - expand this and work with Jay to add contact details so we're ready to revert to committee at next meeting

Tools and formats for events, committee meetings, minutes, agendas etc

Miles noted that committees, WGs and teams are generally free to determine their own tools and processes within reasonable limits. Jay asked if minutes should move from the party pad to the party Wiki (i.e., this site), Miles confirmed this. There was consensus that pad for agenda, wiki for minutes, Trello for actions, and discord for events was a viable approach, subject to adjustment if any committee members can suggest improvements. Action Jay: work with Alex to get required priviliges on mediawiki. Action Jay: create discord events for PPI GA, PPI socials (e.g. pirate beers), and FIRC meetings going forwards.

Sharing the European Pirate space policy debate

Jay noted that the starting point was [ https://european-pirateparty.eu/programme/space-programme/].

Note: Jay updated the group offline after the meeting ended to share the space policy working group discussion at [3]

PPI reserve officer/arbitration court positions

Jay noted he has reached out to Bailey and will if required reach out to the PPI president Florie, but is keen to get some guidance from Bailey in order to avoid any impression our questions about officer positions is due to the outcome of the recent PPI leadership contest.

GA report from PPAU attendees

Miles, milspec and Gold attended. The eventual election of Florie as PPI president was noted as being after full and frank debate about the merits of the outgoing board and president.

Development of agricultural policy and breeding/gene engineering tech (Tyrone)

Miles noted Tyrone is stepping back from official duties. Miles noted contacts were provided to Tyrone since last meeting. Action Jay: confirm with Tyrone whether he wants to continue on the FIRC, and if so wishes to keep pursuing agricultural policy

Contributing to the German Energy Policy WG

It was noted Gold has joined the Energy policy WG.

Other Business

Miles noted - jay should interact with US pirates and update group, and self-assign sailor to get relevant updates Action Jay (and other FIRC members optionally) - join US pirate discord and assign "sailor" role to self to receive updates

milspec noted the FIRC ToR could benefit by sharpening focus - emphasise that while FIRC can gather knowledge and pass on suggestions, but once formulation/developing starts, handover to pdc or form a temporary WG/committe. Also change part 3 to state members can be approved by the officer.

Action Jay: Draft ToR changes, milspec review edits, then Jay send draft to NC for approval.

Next meeting

Next sitting of FIRC is on 31 March at 19:30 AEDT and future sittings are at 19:30 AEDT on the last Friday of each month unless otherwise noted.

meeting finished 20:00 AEDT
