State coordinator reports:
NSW - Simon Frew
- Sydney monthly meeting two Saturdays ago. Had a dozen or so members turn up and a couple from Germany.
- At the meeting it was decided that we would hold a stall, we need flyers first so members have been hard at work writing content, we just need layout done, then to get some printed up.
- People are quite keen to start campaigning for the upcoming election.
- Also decided to look into holding a dinner. Early planning stages at this time (no details set)
- Other cities encourages to organise their own dinners also
ACT - Glen Takkenberg
- devdsp requested help with a FOI request about bluetooth sniffing data being done by Roads ACT to identify individual vehicle entry, exit and transit times through a suburb.
- This FOI request has now been submitted by him
- Meeting has been held since last report
- Discussed that Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) stakeholder meetings were being held around the country by DFAT, and one will be in Canberra on July 2nd, PPAU-ACT intends to attend.
- Discussed possible locations to host the National and Territory Congresses
- Discussed updating the PPAU-ACT constitution to fit requirements for incorporating as an association under ACT requirements. This should be done by our Territory Congress.
- Discussed campaigning in Queanbeyan to support NSW senate candidates.
- Since not running ACT Senate candidates, best to supoort NSW
- This led to talking about needing t-shirts, pins etc to campaign in.
- And general chatting about updates to ppau policy post the policy and preselection meeting, broader pirate politics - e.g. success in Iceland
Vic. - Ben McGinnes
- Nothing major to report since last meeting
- Co-ordinator will be starting full-time Uni soon, but should not get in the way of organising duties
- Will start planning a trial meeting for regional involvement via Mumble
WA - Krystin Dix
- Next meeting Monday next week 13th.
- Have a couple of members around that will be turning up. Should be good.
- emails will be sent soon and getting help from Mozart on the FB side of things.
Tas. - Thomas Randle
- Had a meeting a week and a half ago.
- Planning to get social media presences setup
- Should have another meeting this weekend if there's interest
QLD - Liam Pomfret
- QLD had 2 meetings last week. One face to face on Tuesday, one online meeting on Wednesday.
- Haven't had mcuh luck getting regional members involved in the online meetings yet.
- Have mostly been discussing things relating to strategy for the upcoming election, ideas for ads, etc.
- Have a couple of Android developers looking at creating a prototype app for the party.
- Said app would include things like a news feed of our homepage, a @piratepartyau twitter feed, calendar of upcoming pirate events, and an (offline usable) list of party policies.
- That's still in planning right now, and it'd need NC approval before it could even be published, but we've got some good hopes for this up here.
- Next meetings should be next week on Wednesday (Online) and Thursday (Face-to-Face in Brisbane).
- Emails for that will go out later tonight.
Other discussion (arising from reports)
- Should look into a iPhone app as well, may have a apple developer around
- Seems Greens only other party with an app, but it is very basic: just a link to sign up for campaign updates and to enroll to vote
