Melbourne Crew Meeting Minutes

30th July 2012

Review Last meeing's plan

Candidate request email drafted and reviewed by all, mostly ready sending out on the 6th Still no Vic member's emails available to Mark Street waiting on results of Congress Voting before we see any movement on this

MS - noticed that motion put from floor of congress "that all vetted state coordinators have direct access to the membership list for their state" was not part of motions to be voted on. Will review congress video and take up with NC / DRC if necessary.

Discussion on Party progress since Congress

Mark Street, Ronan Lee and Wendy Nye all report not recieving emails when other members did. RL still has not recieved "Welcome to the party" email - joined 3 months ago

MS understands new email system to replace mailman is under consideration by IT systems, unknown if it will be call and response (googlegroups / mailing list style) or broadcast list type. Heard mention of Dada Mail on irc, concerned that it will not meet requirements of state parties i.e. ability to directly with members, or requirements of NC (Brendan, Mozart) i.e. be able to review / vet / control / fix grammar of emails being broadcast.

MS in contact with Sam Clarke re: resurrecting swag mailout

Discussions on possible candidates for Pre-Selection

DC, DH and MS would consider running for election, RL no intention to. Need to reach out to other candidates - especially regional areas, bendigo, warnambool etc. Discussion on starting a Victorian State party

Requirements for Registration with VEC ?

• target is 500 members state wide - Unknown Vic numbers at this stage - impossible to verify, expect 150 max

Requirements for Incorporation ?

• http://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/clubs-and-not-for-profits/incorporated-associations/become-an-incorporated-association
• Can have own bank account
• Individuals protected from legal action - very useful for organising events / insurance

Communication with members requirements

• Separate section on ppau website vs own website?
• Facebook page which can be "Liked"
• Need to differentiate State party from Federal party. logo e.g. www.masspirates.org ?

DCrafti - NC will have issues with groups making "official" statements

Research Actions

David Crafti to research Constitution requirements

• "take text from PPAu and Ctrl-F Australia, Replace Victoria ??"

Ronan Lee to research requirements for party incorporation

David Haidon to research Local Council elections happening in September

• requirements for local council differ in each region - need to find candidate for city of Melbourne
