Minutes
Previous meeting's minutes
- Minutes held over, not yet marked up to wiki.
Canning By-Election
- This is going okay so far
- The Pozible campaign is at over $2,000
- so 2/3 of way there within 1 day
- thanks largely to a single large donation though
- http://pozi.be/canning2015
- Always encourage PPAU members to add to the Pozibles, remembering we arent charging yearly fees atm :D
- We'll keep pimping it
- The Mandurah Mail article was great
- Most NC didnt do the pre-preference order, so Frew, DanielJ poedgirl and Keating got to decide the original order received by members, who are voting now
- ballots for preferences were sent to WA members, thanks brendan for sorting out the form. ballot closes midday (AWST) tomorrow
- Note to see what response we get as we need a decent sample size for it to be suitably representative.
- If not enough, NC/election committee may need to decide
- People seem happy with the pre-determined order
- we should codify all this preference deciding process at some stage
- and maybe set a percentage threshold as well, something to note before the next general election, when we'll need to go thru this process again
- unless we've missed a by-law somehow, pretty sure the preference voting thing is a convention, not set in stone.
- Not saying set it in stone as we need to have flexibility on the issue, but the process should be set out for when we do do it
- Draft HTVs were sent out?
- only minor changes from the Griffith design, but please look them over as we need to look at getting these printed asap
- We will call the Election Committee in the next couple of days or so, meet early next week
- Michelle has provided new image to use for HTV but may need a higher quality for use on corflutes if we go with similar to this design https://i.imgur.com/z9upyYg.png
- DanielJ having trouble finding the high res files from the WA special election photo shoot.
- Fletcher will see if he has a copy
- Last time in WA we used http://www.mediapoint.com.au/ for corflutes and discountprinting.com.au for HTVs
- mediapoint were by far, the cheapest for corflutes
- details for the print medium and pricing from griffith are in the pad here http://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/canning2015
- AEC asking about payment details from dcrafti for if we are entitled to funding after the election
- (ie if we get the 4%)
- It is unlikely to come up, so either just send them our bank details on the donate page or leave it as the default cheque method
- dcrafti estimates we'd get around $5k if we got the 4% threshold.
- Frew will post about election committee in the next couple of days in discuss, and call a meeting for monday or tuesday next week
- This needs to go out: http://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/canning2015-pozible-membermail
- once preference ballot comes in tomorrow, adam will update the HTVs with the ballot order
- we'll deal with any issues as they arise over email (ie with the preference votes etc as needed)
Membership Database Tender
- Brendan has withdrawn his offer to help with assessing the member DB tenders due to his stress levels
- The next step is to publicise the tender and then start receiving submissions
- MarkG is unable to make the alliance for progress meeting as I hoped to do, which was the problem to start with
- we wanted their buy-in
- If anyone else is able to go, it might be good, even if we don't pitch this concept at that specific meeting
- could possibly mention it as an idea, but not a proper pitch.
- How do we put the tender out?
- probably on our website, with a link in one of the feature boxes
- and social media pimping?
- we could just go out to Twitter, or we could put it on a freelancer/freelance type site
- Tender details: https://gist.github.com/bbqsrc/321624da6ef1e72088f1
- The tender dates will need to change. Submissions close 31 August and the first phase of development is meant to be done by 15 October.
- we can discuss that stuff over email (date changes etc)
- we need to get the tender up on the website ASAP then post it about on social media
- dcrafti to go over it and suggest date changes via email
Alliance for Progress meeting
- MarkG cant attend
- DanielJ will attempt to make it
Constitutional Reform Policy Debate and PDC
- We decided to open up a broad constitutional debate at the Congress
- Frew will start a pad when I get a few hours clear of election stuff, write a bit of an intro topic for discuss
- do a general President mailout and invite people to contribute ideas and get the ball rolling
General Business
- The waylaid electoral nomination fees found their way back to the correct account
- We need to delegate more people the power to send out PRs mails etc
- the process is the PR process
- emails are just general agreeance of the NC, with 2 people signing off on content, having checked for punctuation etc
- preferably other than the main writers, but not necessary if it is time important
- its harder to spot mistakes the longer you work on something
- The bit that Mozart does with the sending and publishing, is documented on the wiki.
- Ideally the NC should all have access, personally.
- it is however a single login.
- We should all be trusted to follow the approval process etc
- The chance of abuse doesn't increase or decrease. It just makes it harder to find who is doing it.
- But think the flexibility is needed as the PR sat there for hours today
- If need be IT can reset the password if there are problems
- New password to be set and provided to all NC who are willing and able to send PR mails. (Fletcher to do tonight)
- Don't store the password. Always log out.
- Some Canning emails need responses, see pads and emails.
- MarkG suggestion re answer to Gun laws questions seems best course.
