Minutes

Previous meeting's minutes

Member Database update

  • Some delays as the project coordinator's wife gave birth - a legitimate enough reason
  • We don't have screenshots still so no crowdfunding campaign until we have stuff to put up
  • there's been commits on git today, so looks like it is still progressing even if it's a little slower
  • Pozible text needs polishing to be ready to go

Fundraising Strategy Meeting

State Branches & ToR

  • We have had 3 people contact us interested in helping out state election committees
  • NC members are encouraged to participate in the state meetings wherever you live
  • We should call an all in meeting and invite everyone interested along
    • Need someone to volunteer taking charge of this - calling the meeting, setting the date and helping pimp it
  • we should maybe set up some kind of internal list or register somewhere to keep track of such people?
  • something else to look at doing is to go back over emails from canning and prev elections and find names of people who did HTVs in the past - next election we should at very least contact those people directly again

Tassy weekend retreat

  • Weekend before last tserong & $partner graciously hosted a few pirates down south (tas) for a weekend get away with a party focus.
  • We all really enjoyed the get away and spent the time working on a party project we picked at the previous hobart meetup, for soliciting tax time donations, to take advantage of the personal tax deductible threshold/incentive for political donations. (and drinking + great food + great people)
  • We've mostly completely a mini-website and calculator and some social media content/memes to run in the lead up to June 30th each year.
    • Will integrate it with Pin.js/Stripe forms to take donations, I'll chase up public api keys etc in the next fortnight with IT/Ben/MarkG.
    • IT for API Keys
  • It was really good, it'd recommend each state try something similar
  • Write up something for Discuss if you get the chance Rundll, good way to spark interest

Congress

  • Brendan has floated the first Constitutional amendments for Congress this year
  • Tassie folks just about all have connections to venues down here
    • even the place we had the last meetup for a meal can host around ~30 if we booked it out
  • Need date and location locked in as early as we can, so people can get their shit together
    • our next meetup is 11th feb, we'll start looking to lock something in/get quotes etc
    • Date is technically locked in, barring any problems
    • we voted for weekend of 23/24th of July
  • We need to think about how we want the Party to run into the future, what isn't working etc
    • Work out what changes if any, organisationally we can adopt that would help out
  • Could be useful to look at Iceland
    • Though not necessarily applicable in the Australian context, Iceland is smaller than Wollongong
    • Some stuff might be worth adopting, but we are in an entirely different situation
    • Policy also perhaps
      • However we also have a broader policy platform already
  • Mozart will start looking into options for equipment hire.
  • Everyone think and feel free to float ideas however you wish, Discuss is good

What I mean is we should look at their policies

    • emailing the NC to bounce ideas off is good too
  • We should also consider holding pre-selection at congress if we dont have reason to earlier

Etsy store

General Business

  • DanielJ will very likely be in Finland from 10th april to 27th april
  • Frews 40th is in a few weeks
  • we should draft a letter to non AfP parties about the royal commission thing
  • If someone wants to get their rant on, the TPP is getting signed in NZ tomorrow, a statement/ PR / Tweets would be good
