Election

Election Committee meeting etc

  • We are holding the election committee meeting next Monday at 8:30pm AEST
  • We will start doing media training around then too
  • MarkG to explain the complexities of the tax policy to the candidates, so they can talk about it when asked

Candidate paperwork

  • DanielJ composing an email to send to all candidates attaching the form (and links to them) that they need to fill out. along with the candidate handbook and all that stuff. We have the month, but i wanna get it sorted asap.
    • also will hassle for bios/pics/socmed as well
  • Sams form, more urgent since he's going OS should be in the PO Box tomorrow
  • Candiates fill out form, give to Dep RO, Dep RO fills out another accompanying form. Takes to AEC with cheque for the fees.
    • So we'll also need to arrange sending cheques to DanielJ, keating and dcrafti_ to cover the fees
  • John will donate his $1000 to the party then the party will pay the AEC for his fees
  • https://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/candidate-2016-briefing
  • we also need decent new pics of each of them, and while it may be a job/question more for the election committee, we need to start work asap on the HTVs etc

Deputy registered officers

  • The forms are all in
    • They aren't listed on the aec website yet
    • Assume it will be soon, but dcrafti will make a follow-up call tomorrow.

Fundraising round 2

    • Needs a clean-up, but the campaign is basically ready to go
    • we need to pick a completion date where we can get the money in time to produce election materials
      • It takes about 2 weeks to get Pozible money
    • Deadline around June 1? Gives us 2 weeks to get money to pay for corflutes etc and 2 weeks to get the election stuff made and delivered
    • $5,000 target
      • Ideally we need more, but concerned re donor fatigue
  • See motions

Election materials

    • Started approving to place on discuss to use on social media
    • just putting them up on our personal accounts, and if they work retweeting from ppau
  • Making an source thread for approved ones to draw from rather than the in-progress thread
  • Need to start work on new HTVs, possibly based on Canning design but refactored for Senate & Bennelong

Congress

  • Rundll has visited the venue, it will suit our purposes easily. No deposit needed, no hire agreement.
  • NBN iternet but not yet tested, Assume we may need 4g cards for streaming
  • DanielJ still has the Voda 4G stick?
  • AV hire will also need to be fleshed out
  • It's a room with a stage
    • big open curtains for outside light
    • we probably won't use the stage
    • there's enough room in there to setup tables and plenty of chairs
    • http://philipsmithcentre.com.au/
    • 2 Edward Street, Hobart Tas 7000
  • See Motions

Party votes

  • There's probably not much to discuss
    • we have the questions and they can be sent anytime now
    • DanielJ will tell Brendan that we plan to run another vote soon and then set up to send those two out on a ballot at earliest convenience
  • We will soon also need to email members with a range of things, including congress date etc and Pozible

Membership Fees & MemberDB

  • Note that Brendan was very pleased with the efforts of the german guy he subcontracted to work on some of the memberDB stuff and that it is gunna be good to go soon
    • so we should probably officially ask him for a status report and so on (just a brief email to nc will do it, i dont mean ask for an essay etc)
    • seeing code on github at some stage also would be ideal

General Business

  • Ben checked paypal and there is $4.4k in there so that appears to be the missing Pozible stripe funds and then some.
    • Ben will look at confirming the actual source and transfer the cash from paypal to the bank
  • Some further dicussion on dcrafti's idea of targeting some companies for donations
    • consensus that we are ok with coprorate donation so long as it is clear there are no strings attached and they are supporting us for what we say, not to influence what we say or stand for
    • to discuss wording of the appeal etc via email
