Minutes
Previous meeting's minutes
- Log of HTV discussion included in the last minutes
- Summary of discussion was left off
- Minutes approval deferred to next meeting so as to readdress this aspect
CFVs
- We had two CFVs over the past two weeks
- CFV = call for vote, basically email versions of the motions voted on here
- ie things that usually cant wait til the next meeting or anything in an election period
- Motion 1: Add Thomas Randle to the ITWG
- Passed)
- Motion 2: Approve payment of $13,000 to the AEC for the 2016 federal election candidate nomination fees for QLD (2x Senate candidates), NSW (2x Senate candidates, 1x House of Representatives candidate) and VIC (2x Senate candidates)
- (Passed)
- See Motions
Election
- Things are picking up, Last couple of days have been full on
Preferences
- Ballot went out last night
- closes Sunday evening
- had hoped to make up a party comparison thing, but never found the time, MarkG was/is also working on one
- there a thread in discuss about the parties including: http://david.boxall.id.au/201605/parties.html
- If local seat deals come up, then due to timing, NC may be the best option approving a local seat preference deal for now
- something we can deal with case by case, senate deals if signiifcant could still go to state based ballot
- In by-electons weve deferred to the whole state to vote on stuff, but that may not be sustainable in the long run if we run more HoR in future (and not for by elections)?
- some further debate about the benefit of HoR preferences
- End result: when it comes to statewide senate HTVs any deals we make, we put to a statewide vote if that deal differs from the member vote
- for HoR and other case by case considerations, due to time... with 4 weeks to go, we are going to have to make some decisions ourselves
- There can also be local considerations such as good local independent and/or better/worse party candidates than other seats. Input from local candidate could be considered in these cases.
Nomination paperwork & Ballot draw
- Paperwork all submitted
- ballot draw on 10th June
- Once we get that draw, DanielJ will get that info to Adam to incorporate into the Senate HTVs and the Bennelong ballot HVT
- our $500 from the logo reimbursement is now in our bank account
Electoral Materials
- We need to finalise HTVs
- DanielJ will email around designs for approval once Adam has finished them
- He is basing design and text off the Canning HTV
- https://pirateparty.org.au/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/Canning-HTV-Front.png
- https://pirateparty.org.au/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/Canning-HTV-Back.png
- this is the text from the canning HTV and with proposed edits for senate HTVs for this year: https://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/2016HTVtext
- Make edits as needed/wanted
- Some changes already proposed are to increase contrast in the colour/text and add the TLDR slogan
- Do we want a the Bennelong HTV to be HoR and Senate, or just separate?
- will see what design options, but may just go with x2
- HTV Design ETA is early next week
- printing, probably go wth same suppliers as last time, but if anyone wishes to research, please do
- last time we did 20k for the mainland states and 6k for Tas
- so maybe get quotes for 10, 15 and 20k?
- Meantime, old flyers for self printing for letterboxing and events here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jxvycjmmpx9b3um/AACSK3l1gDyv-gK1MxNVMnfha?dl=0
- The White DL flyer at the bottom of that link is designed to be printed at home on A4 and then cut into 3 DL flyers
- Feel free to use any except those with Sept 7th in the text unless the Sept7th is updated
- Also suggestions of a paid mail drop in Vic using extra monies there, as a test
- Could be insanely expensive
- Look at prices, otherwise if people can print and letterbox themselves also, that'd be great
- Corflute numbers, looking at 100 per state + 50 for Bennelong
- Suggested numbers of HTVs per polling place, or for a days handouts is approx 500 but adjusted to local conditions, busier will need more
- DanielJ will also mailout some packs of stickers/badges to candidates
- Will also collate all designs etc into a dropbox folder and share link
- HTV Plan: Get quotes, then print what we can afford.
Banking/Finances
- our $500 was returned from AEC (logo money), so figures include that
- we've not yet received money from the recent propaganda pozible yet tho
- In bank now
- acct 1: $1,274.64
- acct2 : $811.90
- With $5878 from pozible to come in next few days (a bit less than that as fees will be taken out)
- Paypal amount unknown at this stage, will get Ben to check and transfer any amount
- also, we have had quite a few new members this past month
- about 11 in NSW
- 4 QLD
- 7 vic
- 3 in WA
- and about all up just under a half dozen resignations as well though
- the new members are since we did the preselection mailout (on about May 4th)
Congress
