Pirate Bureau

  • Simon raised a new approval revision, due to changed software requirements as mentioned at the previous National Council meeting 2016-10-05
  • Thomas mentioned his expectation materials should not require a CFV for approval, as there was previously a process for approvals with 2-3 Councillors and if required, the permission of the person providing a political advertising authorisation.
  • Simon mentioned a vote of the National Council should be required for any expenditure.
  • Brief discussion clarifying interpretation of the existing approval process, Mozart wisely suggests more commas.
  • Fletcher expressed a need to required CFV for some materials requiring approval and authorisation, to ensure non-Party expenditure does not result in a poor outcome.
  • Simon expressed the Party should not stop people spending their own money on stuff for the Party.
  • Mozart mentioned that it's perfectly legal for anyone to attach their own authorisation to a Party material (context note: since the Party publishes under Creative Commons licenses).
  • Mark expressed it should be as simple and open a process as possible, with tightening of the rules down the track if a specific problem has to be solved.
  • Fletcher expressed in such cases requiring an advertising authorisation and expenditure by the Party or members, he expects a CFV for his name to be used, after he has also authorised the version for publication.
  • Mozart mentioned it may eventuate that the Party name and address could be used for advertising authorisations.
  • Simon put the reword approvals process for the Pirate Bureau as following:
(4) Promotional artworks for online distribution
# This section applies to all promotional artworks intended for online distribution by the Pirate Party, except for paid Internet advertisements and videos.
# Promotional artworks for online distribution
## may be commenced and created by any member of the Pirate Party, and
## must adhere to the [[Identity Style Guide]].
# Artworks must be submitted for approval to the 'Bureau' category on the Pirate Party's forum (https://discuss.pirateparty.org.au/c/bureau) as a new topic.
# Any member of the Pirate Bureau Steering Committee may, at any time,
## approve a submitted artwork for inclusion in the Pirate Bureau Gallery, or
## withdraw approval given by them or another member under paragraph (4)(a).
# Notwithstanding subsection (4), if a member of the Pirate Bureau Steering Committee submits an artwork for approval they cannot themselves approve it for inclusion in the Pirate Bureau Gallery.
# If an artwork is approved under paragraph (4)(a), a member of the Pirate Bureau Steering Committee must upload the artwork to the Pirate Bureau Gallery (https://gallery.pirateparty.org.au).
# If approval for an artwork is withdrawn under paragraph (4)(b)
## a member of the Pirate Bureau Steering Committee must remove the artwork from the Pirate Bureau Gallery, and
## reasons must be given for the withdrawal.
# If an artwork has not been approved feedback must be given to the submitter with a view to having the artwork included in the Pirate Bureau Gallery.

  • Simon provided an update:

    • Only 2 tickets have been sold
    • The Party needs to raise sufficient funds to cover the deposit for the event
    • The Party needs to sell 30 tickets to cover the deposit
    • Suggests an early-bird discount of $10 on tickets sold until 4th December
