  • Pirate Nerve Centre covered previous meeting in discussion.
    • TL;DR a small Facebook group for people to post links and rants and such. Because we're all already on FB all the time.
  • Uwe Schafer withdrew from consideration as Press Officer.
  • Second round of candidate preselections
    • WA voting should close right about now.
      • Alex to update when those reports come in
      • Discussion ensued on whether we should seek any more candidacies and whether/how we can fund them.
      • Eventual motion to put out one final call for candidates in areas which do not currently have candidates.

  • Pre-election commitment sought
    • 4WD Queensland point out that there's no national vehicle modification standards, and to make matters worse none of the states recognise each others approvals
    • Letter here.
      • Secretariat todo: pop that on the wiki
    • Commitment sought: acknowledgement of the many issues associated with disparate legislation across states, and a commitment for the up-coming federal election in 2019 to:
      • Amend the federal Motor Vehicle Standards Act to allow “Mutual Recognition” of all individual state engineering, approved certifiers and certification schemes, to be recognised and accepted by all state registration authorities;
      • Establish a National Vehicle Modification and Certification Program for in-service registered passenger vehicles as recommended, to be implemented federally and in parallel with ADRs; and
      • Ensure industry and community engagement is a key basis for the Vehicle Modification Framework.
    • See also recent (17/12/18) email updating the wording to reflect the passage of a new law
    • Andrew and Shannon volunteer to do policy dev on a generalised Repair and Modification policy, which would include the above.

    • We talked about this last time, but not while quorate
  • Email from Jaimy Lancaster at Aus Radio Network regarding trad-media stuff
    • Miles to talk to JL, get something resembling a quote.
  • Ad spend approval/planning (AlexJ)
    • Background: a lot of people haven't renewed their membership in the last few months, so we need to do another membership push
    • Further background: I've taken the party FB account in hand and have been posting regularly - we're averaging 1-2K impressions per post, which is alright but not amazing
    • idea: buy some search ads for policy keywords
      • copyright, privacy, surveillance, video games, memes, technology, basic income, job guarantee, "assistance and access bill", "aabill", "yellow vest", "pirate party"
    • and some display ads on things like fandom sites
