National Council Meeting: 20:30 - 21:30 AEDT, Tuesday, 7th January 2020

Back from a long hiatus and several attempts at quorum...

Agenda

Ideas for content workshop after NC meeting finishes

Attendance

  • Miles W
  • Alex J
  • David R (twisty)
  • Dave K (Satch)
  • Bryn Busai (mandrke)
  • John August
  • Jolly_Bones [member]

Alternate voting server (Dave)

Satch asked to report on parallel instantiation of voting system: good progress but several issues still. "We're probably best suited looking for something [3rd party] off-the-shelf... What's on GitHub isn't ready for prime time."

Alex suggests we can shift from Oyster to selfhosted CIVS at least for position elections: https://github.com/andrewcmyers/civs

Return from hiatus!

  • Mandrke: Let's get things working again!
  • Mandrke: Technically the NC (candidates/elect?) abandoned their position due to a lack of a meeting for over two months after congress due to lack of voting as perConstitution 10.1 (6))
  • BrandonS: yeah, but also these are extraordinary circumstances. We need a functional National Council otherwise there is no party. Circumventing procedural requirements to get up and running and then ensuring this doesn’t happen again has to be the way.
  • Miles: the only specific penalty for being unconstitutional is that whatever entity is responsible for NSW incorporated entities declares us unregistered, which will interfere with our ability to participate in australian elections. I am confident that the majority of the party prefers a minimum bureacracy solution.
  • Alex: I don't think anyone outside PPAU is going to sufficiently care.

New Councillor Emails

Alex confirms that he has G Suite admin and that Dave K and Brandon S are set up on nationalcouncil@ now.
