Previous Meetings Minutes
Onboarding
- Welcome to the new members, and a refresher for the continuing members!
- Miles encourages people to take responsibility for a particular portfolio
- Especial need now for press releases etc and social media content
- Twisty back for SocMed
- Brandon volunteers as tribute
- https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/Press_Release_Guide
- see also https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/Authorisation_processes
- Be sure that what we put out actually does comply with our policy and principles, too!
- And try and do a bit of due diligence to see whether the policy is out of date!
- Roger charges the PDO with reviewing existing policy for not being overtaken by events.
- Satch gives continued consent for use of his address for authorisation.
- Miles also links to https://pirateparty.org.au/constitution/
- "We are the ones who are putting these objects into practice"
- There are various committees and working groups
- IT, Press Team, Policy Dev, Internal Elections
- Miles sees the PDC as a clearing-house for policy initiatives and for updates and maintenance, too
- initiatives will come along from interested members, also need PDC people who know the ropes to make it happen
- Chris Cheng (Milspec) appointed to the PDC.
- International Relations also exist
- Originally founded to deal with PPI
- Recently resurrected, a couple of meetings
- Potential work doing more liaision with PPI and other national parties
- Policy comparisons and cross-pollination
- Friday night possibilities
- Task for the NC this year: website revamp
Additional Discord Discussion Topic Channels
- Roger notes that Milspec asked for an Infrastructure channel
- "Granted" - Alex
- Roger points out that lots of infra delivery is state level
- Andrew: yes, this ties in to having state-level policies
- Mitch: does this have an impact of some policies being good in one state but not in another due to existing laws?
- Roger also asks about day-to-day activity; mostly it's Discord now, but what can we do to encourage local meetups post-Covid
- Suggests state channels for organisation and meetups, less so discussion
Future NC meetings
- Alex has class quite late on Thursdays
- New NC; worth putting it as a question
- Mitch would like to start earlier - trouble for non-Sydneysiders if we do that though
- Back to fortnightly. See motions
Committee memberships
- Twisty resuming SocMed
- technically never vacated the role
- still has access
- welcome back!
- ITWG and IEWG have particularly low bus factor.
- Eventually we need to get this to a point where the Secretary doesn't need to have solid IT skills
- Fred (and Dave?) are getting co-opted
Merch Store & Stickers
- Shirts can happen via The Print Bar dropshipping without too much effort from our part
- website integration is the pain point
- can point a subdomain at TPB's site, probably
- Conversely can/should do stickers as prepared prints
- stickers need auth tags, so we need to know where they're printed
- Also way easier logistically
- this doesn't wait for re-rego, this is part of getting people enthused
- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1m6b9-96YGNsfsn97qqzo0TdnsANtPnVB6OWkp3bH7pw/edit#gid=0
- We could do upfront orders and send stuff as it comes too, but there's a lot of time overhead
- Approved for crowdfund scheme, see motions
John's Covid video
- Andrew and Miles have approved.
- Working on the media release
Treasury things
- Alex by oversight never added John to the Treasury list
- Mark and Alex working through Stripe things
- John and Mitchell need ANZ IB4B set up
- see also By-law 2021-01
- John and Mitchell automatically on by position
- need to do a motion to say who we add - next time
- Alex to stay as 3rd sig
Congress debrief
- Be good to have appointed Liam as elections RO in advance rather than from the floor
- TODO: extract Jpeg's and Andrew's interviews and upload seperately
- Future discussion: clean up speaking order, enforce not talking over each other
- formalise and update the "chair grants speaking perms" system for current era
- need to clarify how and when people on stream get to speak
- Also slow getting people up to speak
- need a second stream master?
- and more practice in general
- Roger asks what our communication processes need to change to
- Miles emphasises inclusivity and accessibility
- Text chat not going away any time soon
- Live stream not going away, so we still need audio chatter
- __Don't__ want free voice chatter though, because it heavily privileges speakers
- TODO: put some more thought into this
