Why do you feel that you are qualified for the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I am the incumbent President. I saw the party out of a lull in activity and through the recent 2019 Federal Election, and enacted several initiatives including new discussion platforms (Facebook chat group, Discord), organising methods (online events on Meetup and Facebook) and election campaigning (including Facebook Live Q&A videos).
Why are you seeking the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I have seen the party grow and am excited to see the party grow and innovate further.
What experience/contribution have you made so far to the Pirate movement, and what will you do to advance or better the Party and movement?
I have been party president for the previous year, and a national councillor for the year before that. I have also volunteered for the last 3 election campaigns in Brisbane and have contributed to multiple press releases, government submissions, policy amendments, social media promotion, interviews, campaigning and the like over the years.
Do you agree with the Pirate Party platform and its ideals? What other political movements or parties have you been a part of?
I agree with the party, and have been a supporter since it's founding. I have never been a member of another Australian political party.

Why do you feel that you are qualified for the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I have a real desire to help the Pirate Party have an elected member in the senate and help make Australia the best version of ourselves. I have travelled to Adelaide to show my support for my fellow Pirates for National Congress in 2019.
Why are you seeking the position for which you have declared your candidacy?

It's important to have active members in active roles driving the future of the party. I plan to push for great registrations in my state and to lead us to having a state based party in NSW. I believe we have the best policies out of any party, although not always perfect we have a great group of people whose experience adds to the legacy of great policies and great debate.

What experience/contribution have you made so far to the Pirate movement, and what will you do to advance or better the Party and movement?

Apart from donations i have run for Senate in the 2019 Federal Elections, worked in State and local government and experienced three years working for a Union alongside two Prime Ministers. Also I've been burned a number of times in politics only to have and bounced back with a greater desire to help build a better nation and explore better ways of delivering progressive policies.

Do you agree with the Pirate Party platform and its ideals? What other political movements or parties have you been a part of?

I do which is why i joined in 2013. I believe most members sign up based on this point. I've only ever been a Pirate Party member. Pirate for Life.

Secretary

Alex Jago

Why do you feel that you are qualified for the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I am the incumbent Secretary. I like to think that I've gotten through the year without too many unfixable screwups.
Why are you seeking the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I'm running for Secretary because I figure I've now demonstrated that I can do it. If someone more qualified than me would like to be Secretary, I'll happily take the Deputy role.
What experience/contribution have you made so far to the Pirate movement, and what will you do to advance or better the Party and movement?

In the last year I've helped fight an election (mostly in support of Miles and Brandon up here in Qld), taken on primary responsibility for the party Facebook page, and of course I've done the usual Secretariat meetings and memberships and submissions things. My authorisation tag project is now basically finished and proved its value (I think this is actually my most useful contribution).

I've been a part of all election campaigns in my area since I joined the party in 2014 (Griffith by-election; 2016 & 2019 generals).

As I keep saying, our pressing task over the next year remains to grow not just in total members but active, engaged members.

I don't pretend to have a magic solution, but I'll support things that seem like they'll help, with both my time and my influence.
Do you agree with the Pirate Party platform and its ideals? What other political movements or parties have you been a part of?

Yes. I've never been a member of any party except PPAU, and I hope that never changes.

I've also helped out various Greens campaigns as an HTV-person, door-knocker and map-drawer. (The first two count as campaigning skills development.)

Brandon Selic

Why do you feel that you are qualified for the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I have been a member of Pirate Party Australia since its inception, and have served as the first head of the Legal Committee and as State Coordinator for Queensland.
Why are you seeking the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I wish to be involved with the National Council formally, but am unable to commit to an officer position at this time.
What experience/contribution have you made so far to the Pirate movement, and what will you do to advance or better the Party and movement?

As stated above, I was first head of the Legal Committee and acted as Queensland State Coordinator. I have also served on the policy committee and run as a Senate Candidate in two Federal Elections, plus supported candidates in previous elections.

I will seek to increase membership so that we can register state branches, and put the party in a position to contest state and local elections, using the upcoming Queensland elections in 2020 as a testbed for strategy and procedure for the rest of the states.
Do you agree with the Pirate Party platform and its ideals? What other political movements or parties have you been a part of?

Yes.

I was formerly a member of the Australian Democrats before that party folded.

If I were a Judge

David Kennedy

Why do you feel that you are qualified for the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I am a founding member who has promoted the party and assisted with some of our election campaign efforts in the past, though haven't had much involvement over the past couple of years
Why are you seeking the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
Throwing my hand into the mix to serve some time on the NC
What experience/contribution have you made so far to the Pirate movement, and what will you do to advance or better the Party and movement?
I'm an analyst developer, primarily c# enterprise systems. For the past 3-4 years I've been contracting to Telstra on systems to support and automate their responsibilities with regard to the NBN rollout. If elected to the NC I will seek to faithfully reflect the consensus of our members. I have a particular interest in freedom of expression, so I will defend these liberties wherever possible.
Do you agree with the Pirate Party platform and its ideals? What other political movements or parties have you been a part of?
I support the bulk of our party policy as it currently stands. Pirate Party Australia is the only political party I've held formal membership in. Late submission, I'll leave it there for now. Stay Safe!
