This Working Group (WG) was established by the Policy Development Committee (PDC) on 23 January 2013.

Focus & Themes

The NGO Working Group has an initial focus of looking at taxation policies surrounding non-governmental organisations, charities and religious institutions. The current WG chair is Rodney Serkowski.

Meeting Schedule

Meetings are transparent, open and accessible to all members. Please contact the PDC with any ideas should you not be able to attend, or if you are attending, please add them to the agenda linked below.

      • Fundamental Questions
        • Assessment of Policy Proposal - Does the proposed policy development conflict with the ideals and restrictions in the Constitution?
      • Appropriateness of tax exempt status of religious institutions and charities.
      • Facilitating political advocacy and contribution of the NGO sector through tax exemptions.
      • Examples from abroad.
      • Current laws, what can we change?
      • Open comments from members.
      • Discuss structure of recommendation to the PDC.

Current Deadlines

As per the motion passed by the PDC, the deadline for presentation to the Committee is 20 February 2013. This should include a Multi-Attribute Utility Theory (MAUT) table and a recommendation to the Committee based on the research of the WG and should relay any member input given to the WG by the members of the Party.
