WA Senate Candidates
Fletcher Boyd
Preselection candidate for
Senate in WA
Why do you feel that you are qualified for the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
Although I have only been a member of the party for a little under six months I have spent my time here actively promoting our policies. I have a strong background in technology and the leadership skills required to promote party policy within both the Australian media and senate. I can explain our platform, and the reasoning behind it, to people from all walks of life and all professional backgrounds.
Why are you seeking the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
When it came time to vote in 2013 I realised that I wasn't comfortable voting for any party on the ballot. Over the past several years I have grown frustrated and concerned as our politicians have made a mockery of Australia both on our soil and on the world stage. Our elected representatives have lost sight of the goal of government, no longer do they concern themselves with legislation that protects the citizens they represent. Instead we see decisions being made with only the corporate interests in mind and always hurting the Australian people. With my nomination I seek to change that and give voters a viable alternative backed by policies based on science, not turbulent winds of political desire.
What experience/contribution have you made so far to the Pirate movement, and what will you do to advance or better the Party and movement?
Since joining the party I have served in two capacities. The first as a member of the Press Team working alongside some amazingly talented individuals releasing informative press releases and other material. I have also held the position of WA coordinator for the past several months. In this role I have assisted the growth of the WA branch to the point where we are comfortable contesting a federal election and represented WA at both general and National Council meetings.
Continuing on from this point I will endeavour to promote the party at both a state and federal level through on the street recruitment and public engagements until a time comes when Australia is a beacon of civil liberties and science based legislation.Do you agree with the Pirate Party platform and its ideals? What other political movements or parties have you been a part of?
Until I looked into the Pirate Party I couldn't find a party that so closely reflected my own ideology, at my core I believe in two things, civil liberties and evidence based reasoning. When I first read our policies it was like someone had taken a page from my own mind. It is with confidence that I can say that I wholeheartedly agree with both our platform and ideals. I haven't been a member of another political movement, no where else felt right.

I have a long history in advocating for equal rights for those people who have had them unjustly taken away, as well as doing whatever I can to actively support copyright reform.
Why are you seeking the position for which you have declared your candidacy?
I wish to fix the problems with our current system by helping the Pirate Party achieve its goals including human rights and copyright reform.
What experience/contribution have you made so far to the Pirate movement, and what will you do to advance or better the Party and movement?
I joined the Pirate Party as a founding member back when it started. I have been active in shaping the party since that point and hope to continue to do so in the future.
