Minutes
- Meeting opened 18:25
- Discussion of possible State Branch formation, now that we have 50 tasmanian members according to national membership records (see https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/Branch_Formation_Working_Group_ToR#Scope_.26_Responsibilities).
- Pete suggests waiting on national membership audit first.
- General consensus on state branch formation, is first we:
- Need means of communication and decision making (something more formal than random mail to the discuss list).
- Suggestion that we should use the PPAU wiki for this in the interim, absent something more liquid-democracy-like
- Need means of ensuring participation with all members, people who can't make Hobart meetings, etc.
- Need means of communication and decision making (something more formal than random mail to the discuss list).
- Suggestion for road trip to north / northwest, because road trips are awesome
- Pete strongly encourages visit to pirate takeaway in Stanley
- Pete suggests Pirates of Tas run a hack weekend / hackfest thing to try to put together an openaustralia/rightotknow FOI style thing, for Tasmania
- Thomas: can this fork/derive from existing OA/RTK thing?
- Thomas acknowledges Charles' excellent work posting on the PiratePartyTas facebook page.
- Pete requested an online store for t-shirts, stickers, etc. for fundraising.
- Thomas suggested future objectives:
- Events for members, not like the annual congress, but a regular hack day, or fun thing
- Eventually obtain our own space somewhere, or even coworking space
- At some point in future we will eventually want to be able to have paid staff
- Pete requested a couple of oddites be minuted that arguably aren't strictly party business:
- Using Firefox private browsing on a mobile phone for minute taking on the etherpad sucks
- Tim still has a beard
- Meeting closed at 19:47
Action Items
- Tim to:
- Find out geographic spread within state
- Update discussion list with URLs of minutes etc.
- Note: they're all on the party etherpad, e.g.: http://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/tas-20150409, they just haven't all been transferred to the party wiki yet; change the date at the end of the URL to see the minutes for the appropriate meeting
- Send draft branch constitution to discuss list
