Minutes

Registration process and RT

  • Mailout made to 837 members.
    • 310 people have confirmed/updated their registration as of the time of meeting; over 50% towards our goal.
    • Registration Working Group will be verifying data contained in RT tickets generated by the signup form against the AEC online checker.
  • Issue with the SSL certificate on Android devices and isolated browsers when visiting the signup form has been resolved.
  • Address enquiries@ will also be migrated to RT in the coming week.

Freedom of Information request update

  • Brendan lodged a FoI request for the classification database.
    • Scope for part (b) modified to suit the classification board's document management processes.
    • 2 years of RC content classifications has been requested.
    • Deadline of 17th October for a response from the classification board.
  • Rodney has lodged a FoI request for the National Security Inquiry legislation with the Attorney General's Department.
    • Expected release date next Tuesday (9th October).
    • AGD being tight lipped on the content.

Meeting with a notable Australian

  • He has been made aware of PPAU thanks to an activist.
  • Rodney spoke with him on Monday morning:
    • Deficiencies in Australian Democracy.
    • Youth of Australia have a big part to play in politics.
    • Principles of Pirate movement, liquid democracy, culture, transparency.
    • He was receptive to and in full agreement with our viewpoints.
  • In person meeting slated for later this month (possibly 15th).
  • Rodney may fly down to Melbourne, or meet via teleconference if many people are interested.

auIGF

  • Brendan and Glen will be attending the auIGF.
    • Liam P. may also attend.
    • Request for PPAU to be on a panel - "the case for and against compromising in the cloud"

PPI

  • Pirate Parties International (PPI) Court of Arbitration (CoA) has entirely resigned:
    • Minimum 3 members requirement is not met; extraordinary GA probable.
    • 5 weeks noticed minimum notification required by the Board.
    • PPAU has ~6 weeks to send the condemnation letter.

Polly (PWG) update

  • Brendan has a 2d voting prototype
  • Tackling issue with delegation chains for proxy voting
  • Possible potential with an American voting system under development

Announcement email

IPC International Pirate Collective

  • pirateint.org exists
  • supplementary international organ to PPI




Motions

  • Motion: redaction of name from minutes
    • 5 ayes.
