Minutes

Previous meeting minutes

Banking

  • Signatories.
    • Mel is leaving the National Council, so there will need to be a change in banking signatories.
    • At this stage it looks like both Mark and Ben will remain in their positions.
    • See action items.
  • Xero status.
    • We do not have a tax file number.
    • Mark will proceed on that basis.
  • Bank statements
    • See action items.
  • Bank account status.
    • As part of having two bank signatories, the treasury has to provide regular updates.
    • Approximately $8,000 in the main account, and $800 in the cheque account.
  • Debit card for IT Working Group
    • Ben will follow this up as it is urgent.
    • Money is needed to keep vital service going.

Expenditure authorisations for Congress

  • Quote for PA for Congress provided to NC for $200.
    • Would like to authorise up to $250 in case there's anything extra forgotten.
  • See motions.
  • Error realised in previous motion (PA and streaming were to be seperate expenses).
  • Streaming.
    • Using 4G on a month-to-month plan.
    • 12GB data for $60–$70, depending on carrier.
    • Michael Keating can provide a modem.
    • Vodafone 4G seems like the best option.
    • Last 4–5 congresses have always been under 12GB to stream.
  • See motions.

Expense claims

  • Brendan is claiming:
    • $151.08 for flights to Castan Centre for the human rights conference.
    • $122.76 for an FOI request to the Trade Minister.
    • $46.67 for an FOI request to AGD on copyright (deposit).
  • Pirate Party has already paid the expense claim for the entrance ticket for the conference.
    • It will be the week after Congress.
  • See motions.

Congress discussion topics

  • National Council seemed to think this was a good idea at the last meeting.
  • How should topics be set?
  • The NC could set topics now, or ask for suggestions on the forum and then decide, or let Congress decide on the day, or anything else.
  • We're likely to be able to have at least three issues, but up to five or six potentially, depending on time.
    • We can skip them if we run out of time.
  • PDC has identified our position on a republic as an issue for discussion at Congress.
  • Other topics suggested:
    • Defining "non-commercial"
    • Pirate Parties International
    • Pirate Party response to G20 in Brisbane.
  • Topics to be compiled here: http://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/congress2014-discussiontopics

AEC rolls

  • No updates from the AEC.
  • Glen should call AEC to work on resolving the issues.

Officer reports

  • Officer reports are dropping off a bit, but there's not really a lot for people to report on.
  • General agreement that not harassing people over the reports is a good approach, but keeping it going is worthwhile.
  • There's a need to ensure the SA meetings are adequately promoted on social media due to lack of attendance.

Sticker and badge update

  • Badges are ordered.
    • Invoice should arrive; $960 needing to be paid in the next day or so.
    • Additional $20 for postage.
    • Two designs, 1,000 of each.
  • Large bumper stickers ordered.
    • Payment details and confirmation yet to be sent through.
    • Should be about $500 for 1,000 high quality stickers.
  • Also an order for the two other designs.
    • Smaller and in glossy paper.
    • About $264, needing to be paid with PayPal or credit card.
  • All comes in under budget.
  • We have access to PayPal.
  • Daniel will confirm the order and then forward payment details to Brendan.
  • Shirts are also done.
