Email sigs
- Reminder to everyone (mostly new NC) to please use the required email signature on your pirate party email accounts:
Canning By-Election
- As discussed on email.
- Key dates and info here: http://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/canning2015
- Coincides with Talk like a Pirate day (Sept 19)
- General agreement to run
- Poedgirl (Michelle Allen) has flagged interest in being the candidate
- We need to organise a preselection meeting
- Relevant by law: https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/By-laws#Nominations_for_the_House_of_Representatives
- Short timeframes mean some time requirements will need to be waived.
- Note that by-laws can be waived conditionally by the NC
- Even if we only have the one nomination, we still need to at least do the approval voting stage
- Brendan will sort out the voting software for the preselection ballot
- See motions
- Will email out a call for nominations after meeting
- Need to give at least a few days to ponder for potential candidates
- Plan: Call for nominations now/tonight. Nominations close Midday Sunday. Ballots go out 3pm Sunday Ballots close 6pm Monday.
- Note There was some confusion over preselection meeting time, an orginal proposal was for Monday, but Sunday was eventually planned, followed by the mailing of the ballots, but it wasn't made explicitly clear to everyone.
- Need to form an election committee
- get materials together, help organise people for polling booths, help media training, make sure we have all of the correct paperwork
- Paperwork:
- Needs be signed by both RO or Deputy RO and the candidate
- Cannot be submitted online
- Suggest nominating Fletcher as a Deputy RO to cosign the paperwork
- dcrafti will send through form and Fletcher will send back to DanielJ to forward to AEC
- Keating still listed as Party RO
- Needs to be updated to dcrafti asap
- Paperwork for this is ready to be sent (needed 3 member signatures), done, will send tonight.
- Can be submitted online (scans)
- Nominations close 12 noon WA time on thursday (next week)
- Cost of $1000 (cheque or cash)
- Action Item: Fletcher to send MarkG bank details and MarkG/Treasury to forward $1000 nomination fees from PPAU to Fletcher
- We'll need to run a crowdfunding campaign to pay for materials
- should be assigned to secretary@
- Thomas Randle to look into setting up campaign after secretariat makes new password
- Note, candidates do not need to live in the electorate. Poedgirl lives nearby in a neighbouring electorate.
Brandon's request to join PDC from Congress
- Brandon expressed his desire to join during congress and emailed so
- still wishes to join
