Pozible last throes
- We did it!
- Especially good effort by Rundll on promotion & management of it etc
- Kudos and thanks to everyone who donated
- Other parties and NGOs etc were less help than hoped, it came down to our members and other individual supporters for most part
- MarkG will do up a nice PR
- Total Pledged : A$ 12,610.00
- Not Captured : A$ 1,935.00
- Total Captured : A$ 10,675.00
- so ~$2K of card declines
- one of these is a single $1.5k donation that has been identified and will be captured soon
- Also an issue found with Pozible where editing your donation results in being charged for each iteration of the edit
- CAPT-Irrelevant got charged 5 times.
- ie if someone donated $50, and edited it to $75, they've been charged $125
- Rundll will contact pozible - e bug in their software charging people the full amount each time they tried to edit a pledge
- Multiple charges bug amounts to about $500 worth
- Now we will need to hit everyone up again for electoral stuff
Membership Fees
- So far unresolved
- Do we want to charge set membership fees? There were mixed opinions
- Much discussion, especially around preferred default.
- Shall keep "Pay what you want" for the first year at least
- Don't want to hammer our members with a mandatory fee just after we've been hounding them over memberdb and election pozibles
- Discussion of trialling a minimum with a subset of members nixed as would be unfair to those members.
- Will raise membership fees as a congress item and/or a discuss thread
- Decided shall set default value to $50 with the option for people to set their own value including to $0, thus retaining "Pay what you want" for now
Election
Pre-selection meeting
- We have only 1 NSW potental candidate at this stage
- We have the email ready to go out
- dcrafti said he would be returning officer
- there's no reason not to close everything at the start of the meeting
- Fletcher suggest's that people can add nominations right up until the preselection meeting starts
- If we are going to leave it open for NSW we should leave it open for other states too
- even though our original close was 25th, that doesnt necessarily preclude us from leaving it til meeting start, especially if we state so in this next mailout
- https://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/preselectionmeetingreminder
- Concern that states with 2 niminees should close, but decided that better candidates trumps prompt candidates (depsite promptness being a personal plus)
- a wider field is better in all cases to get the best candidate so all niominations will be left open til start of preselection meeting
- For the meeting itself, it will be basically: candidates intro, questions, general election chat, close, vote
- See motions
- DanielJ abstains due to considering nominating for NSW to bring candidates to x2
Fundraising round 2
- We are going to have to do this all over
- we now have money again so the worst is over
- We'll need to get materials, targets etc sorted out...
- First goal will be making sure we have enough for 3 states
- we now have money again so the worst is over
- Ideally should aim for $10k.
- perhaps $5k since we have already hit everyone up already
- Do We have other options besides Pozible?
- Crafti has met Luke a few times and ponders if we should consider approaching him to be the campaign manager for Victoria.
- CAPT-Irrelevant will explore some pozible alternatives
Election materials
- This is just to note, we are going to need content
- lots of content
- We will need update this asap: https://pirateparty.org.au/election/
- The HTV design from canning is there
- we might want to write some 'cheat sheets' for candidates to help with interviews and whatnot
- MarkG will look into this
- Also some material on https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/Electioneering that could be of help, but page needs updating
Party votes
- We need to run the votes for the financial report and the name change straw polls
- perhaps can bundle in with the preselection voting
- https://pirateparty.org.au/wiki/Minutes/National_Council/2016-03-16#Rename_Vote_proposal
- "The Pirate Party should develop proposals to rename the party for consideration at the upcoming National Congress"
- if they can be combined, will do, if they cant then we wont.
Deputy registered officers (whoever)
- We will need to nominate deputy registered officers to deal with state preselection bureaucracy
- Last time it was mostly the first candidate on the ballot I recall but lets just do NC members per state we could have candidates
- That way can sort it out beforehand
- so NC or first candidate on case by case basis as per convenience/location
- Perhaps do all states except SA, NT, ACT
- Fletcher is already listed (from Canning)
- Forms will need to be arranged, signed etc and fed trhough dcrafti
- deputy appointment can be handled online, it is just a lot of back and forward of printing, signing, scanning, emailing. But for candidate nominations that RO will need take forms into office in person
- ideally recommend that everyone get an electronic signature, so that we can skip the printing/scanning steps?
- http://www.aec.gov.au/parties_and_representatives/party_registration/Registered_parties/pirate.htm
- DanielJ will do NSW, Keating QLD, and dcrafti Vic (already RO)
General Business
- Snowden email needs to be sent, will go out when we arent sending desperately important emails the same day
- Logo is sorted, currently advertised by AEC in objection period
- http://www.aec.gov.au/Parties_and_Representatives/party_registration/applications/index.htm
- no objections listed for ours so far
- Period lcoses May 11
