Minutes
Previous meeting's minutes
David Read appointment to PDC
- aka Twisty
- Fletcher would also like to raise that twisty be appointed social media officer
- Keating seconds
- He's clearly demonstrated his judgement regarding content since he's been with us and I think he's the best person for the job
- Note: Fletcher has already asked him
- Accepts
- See Motions
Election
- HTVs should be distributed around next Tuesday
- Once we get the htvs, we need to figure out and account for mailing them to others, eg a bunch to Darren in cooma etc
- Likely the best way to handle this is for the recipients to pay for postage,m collect receipts and reimburse
- if they need any variation on that (ie payment in advance) they can email MarkG andhe will sort it out with them individually
- if any of them are broke, we could approve a payment in advance
- if we're getting them on tuesday we'll want to get them to the hander-outerers very rapidly
- might want to have envelopes, addresses & so on all ready
- we can spring for express post envelopes if it comes down to it
- Printer screwed us around on acknowledging payment so they are a bit later than we'd hoped
- target delivery date next tuesday
- Brandon was planning on just driving QLD ones to people's houses. Fuel & parking can be covered if need be.
- Will need mail to regional areas though
- Keating is still in a position for volunteer wrangling? If we can start nailing down anyone in more regional areas who will need a delivery?
- If we can confirm those people and line up their addresses and a a firm commitment to hand out Etc so we can mail some to get there in time
- Brandon also planning on self printing some for prepoll, PDFs to be forwarded.
- HTVs are also on website linked to from candidate page
- Corflutes should be in Brisbane tomorrowish
- DanielJ missed the delivery in NSW today, but they will come back tomorrow
- Will need post some to Darren in Cooma
- When putting up corflutes, check the regulations of the local council to see what the rules are, Wollongong they are lax
- also see what the bigger Parties do, and use them as a guide
- They are litigious as fuck against each other so they follow the rules pretty strictly
- Night before election day everyone should go around and hit all the polling booths in their areas with left over signs
- Also, that Dropbox folder had the files for printing corflutes, they work well as A3 posters if people feel like printing any off to put up in shops, work bulletin boards etc etc
- also see what the bigger Parties do, and use them as a guide
- Keating will follow up for addresses for those outside capital cities and confirm try can indeed help in Election Day?
- and we should thank them and let them know what they're in for
- We're down to $1070 in the cheque account, $498.96 in savings and $95.84 on the debt card.
- This is not actually too bad given where we are in the electoral cycle.
- we can reimburse as needed but should try to avoid any further large expenses :p
- So we can at least keep servers up and pay for postage and congress ;-)
- MarkG has paypal access and looks like any outstanding funds have been cleared/transferred
- also pretty sure the PIN stuff transfers automatically but will need to check to make sure
- DanielJ also slowly posting out pozible rewards, but for now just paying as needed and holding onto receipts til... Whenever
- An election debrief should be one of the discussion topics for day two of congress.
Congress
- we need to start thinking about the composition of the next NC
- please be putting in your nominations
- also, constitutional amendments close on friday
- DanielJ and Ben do not plan on running for the NC this coming congress... so we'll need a new secretary & deputy treasurer at minimum. Peter still deciding.
- so start thinking about new people who may be suitable to run for positions as well.
- Keating will be standing for deputy again
- DanielJ will still be around and more than happy to take on other roles and continue doing things like mailing merch etc
- Tom has already nominated for dep pres/sec and councilor
- MarkG will probably recontest for treasurer
- We should probably nudge a few new people to run
- The main task we have at the moment is collecting the amendments and keeping the wiki updated
- planing on putting the CAPs into the wiki on thursday/tomorrow
- Frew said he will sponsor Brendans ones he has on discuss, so if those can go in, but put by frew
- The post election forms is gonna be a fun start to the treasury year
- Tom has been chasing up equipment but nothing locked in yet, I may just have to get quotes for full hire
- MarkG wants there to be a recruitment officer
- There is no 'in-person' attendance Quorum for congress for NC members
- there's 20% of the membership (to vote) for constitutional amendments atm.
- any quorum requirements can be satisfied with remote attendance
- Also, we will need to work out the location for the Congress after...
- Canberra and Wollongong suggested as possible options
pirateint domain
- due to expire, should we keep it
- we should in case the new NC decides to pursue stuff there and also to prevent anyone else taking it and doing nefarious things with it
- cheap enough
- See motions
General Business
- Pozible
- DanielJ set aside the weekend to go through the recipients and sort out mailing etc, but couldnt access the pozible project
- Seems pozible staff assign the project owner as a staff member for maintenance purposes at times, and in this instance they forgot to switch back
- Ticket put in didnt get resolved til monday
- we now have it back, but it meant the weekend was wasted.
- Need to start looking again for pozible alternatives
- memberDB status needs an update
- something for the next NC pile but will mention it now so that people can mull it over: We're getting to the point where the party has a lot of things going on at one time (especially noticeable during elections) and the risk of things falling through the cracks is getting higher every day.
- the best way to keep all the plates spinning at this point is to start looking at management solutions (Taiga.io etc)
- It'd also make passing over existing tasks to new officers much easier.
