PAX panel
Times in AWST [20:08:27] @Frew : ** https://discuss.pirateparty.org.au/t/panel-for-pax-aus-2016/776 [20:09:07] @Fletcher : SimonG isn't here but the thread speaks for itself [20:09:11] @Frew : Did you chase it up Fletcher? [20:09:38] @Fletcher : I haven't been able to get in contact with anyone [20:10:00] @Frew : I can speak if that works for everyone, will need someone to put me up in Melbourne, or maybe Jade will want to use it as an excuse for a holiday [20:10:01] miles_w : oh ahhh [20:10:08] miles_w : i've got some contacts in the bris in [20:10:09] miles_w : die scene [20:10:14] miles_w : indie gamedev scene [20:10:27] miles_w : i could see who is still around and interested, if we're still looking for speakers [20:10:37] @Fletcher : I believe Shlee might also be able to provide some input? [20:11:29] @Rundll : Shlee may need to be voiced [20:11:40] @Fletcher : nah, there's no mute [20:11:47] @Rundll : kk [20:12:26] @Fletcher : Before discussing panels etc though there is something I'd like to bring up [20:13:33] @Emily : I'm in Brisbane. [20:14:07] Ben : miles_w, you do? so do I, I wonder ... [20:14:09] @Emily : I'm happy to be a speaker but I'd want to call in helpers [20:14:35] miles_w : i havent been to anything for a couple of years ben but i used to go to a few of the meetup groups [20:14:36] @CAPT-Irrelevant : You could get help from Keating :p [20:14:39] @Frew : no worries we can use pirate pad to get the text sorted etc [20:15:22] Ben : miles_w, an old friend moved up there years ago and started an indie game company called defiant, they made hand of fate [20:15:25] @Fletcher : I don't think I'm the right person to head this up for a couple of reasons. Mainly I'm not going to be there and I believe that my performance may come into question due to the potential that I may not be perceived to be acting impartialy [20:15:43] miles_w : yeah [20:15:47] miles_w : i met morgan jaffit a w [20:15:47] miles_w : hile ba [20:15:48] miles_w : ck [20:15:52] Ben : :D [20:15:56] miles_w : and a [20:15:59] miles_w : couple of other defiant guys [20:16:00] @CAPT-Irrelevant : Fletcher: We could get Simon, being he suggested it? [20:16:06] @Fletcher : (I stopped reading the chat while trying to word that, glad that others have stepped up :) ) [20:16:31] miles_w : ben if you know morgan it might be better coming from you to ask him [20:17:20] @Fletcher : CAPT-Irrelevant, somewhat difficult since he's not here and we'll need to move fast [20:17:22] Ben : sure, I'll just have to get up to speed on this pax thing [20:17:42] Ben : he got really into games, I got really into the first round of the crypto wars [20:18:03] Ben : and we both spent far too much time in clubs and *ahem* ... [20:19:17] @Frew : Happy for Ben to do it [20:19:26] @Fletcher : ^ [20:20:00] Ben : sure, just let me know exactly what I'm inviting him to ;) [20:20:11] Ben : otherwise it might turn into a different kind of trip [20:21:34] @Fletcher : I think we're behind the curveball on this one. [20:21:58] miles_w : we have 4 days left to submit an application for a panel to pax aus [20:22:07] miles_w : just enough time to get really drunk and write an app overnight [20:22:15] @Fletcher : haha, fair enough [20:22:26] Ben : Fletcher, young Morgan and I met around early '95 and have been causing trouble for quite some time [20:22:44] miles_w : morgan is one of the indie darlings on the aus scene [20:22:48] miles_w : he's been pretty hot for a while [20:22:54] miles_w : a real catch if we can get him [20:23:00] @Emily : Haha [20:24:15] Ben : heheh I might have to paste these logs for him ... and Kate [20:24:15] @CAPT-Irrelevant : That's settled I suppose. [20:24:26] miles_w : he' [20:24:29] miles_w : is my [20:24:30] miles_w : hero [20:24:31] +tserong : huh, i know morgan jaffit [20:24:49] +tserong : or, at least i met him in the late nineties [20:25:04] miles_w : i was really disappointed when warco foundered [20:25:18] +tserong : (which was ... >checks calendar< ... long enough ago that i probably don't actually know him anymore) [20:25:48] @Fletcher : Ben, can you coordinate on the thread linked above and let people know what's happening? [20:26:23] Ben : yeah, it looks like something I ought to pay some kind of attention to [20:26:32] @Frew : nice [20:26:37] Ben : even with just my publisher hat on :) [20:26:40] @Fletcher : Thanks Ben [20:26:47] miles_w : someone link the pax pad again [20:26:47] miles_w : ?
