Minutes
Donations and Fusion
- Unclear whether donations directly to branches of registered political parties are deductible
- Need advice
- Donating to Fusion (top-level) tagged for PPAU should be OK.
- The Qld Greens for example take donations to state office and then pass a portion on to tagged local branch and to national.
- Fusion constitution and/or bylaws should specify the distribution portions
- Vote Planet constitution already specifies this
- Generally branch "keeps" 90% of what it raises
- Different rules for any AEC money back
- May need some revision given VP -> Fusion
- If individual branches are self funding, they will need all but admin-overhead funds
- Only independent candidates qualify for deductibility, so donations to candidates will need to be routed through Fusion too.
Fusion reportbacks
- Member centralisation (minus us) is almost done
- PPAU cannot be part of this without additional CAPs, no action until Congress 2022
- John and/or Mitch need to be at Finance Committee
- Andrew: Policy WG got together and went over Climate Justice's bits
- Andrew: Constitution WG took feedback from Fusion Exec re Code of Conduct, revised wording, "should be good to go"
- Roger requests (as Fusion Secretary) a monthly update on PPAU member updates
- Alex takes this under advisement
- Miles reports back from Campaigns Cttee:
- "we've been busy"
- lots of campaigns stuff tonight which Miles had hoped to finalise but wasn't
- Fusion Launch the main item
- Parallel processes...
- Press release
- Website revamp + launch with candidates
- Mailout
- All 70-90% done
- on track for 2-week launch delay from originally planned
- At least AEC has published name change now
- "We don't have clear comms processes yet"
- Lots of structural stuff CC needs to do
- Sara Joyce has been super helpful with the press release
- Still hoping to finalise stuff over the weekend
- Code of Conduct seems to be a launch-blocking item but still not approved by Exec tonight, aargh
- Andrew: Sounds like Exec need to be able to delegate someone to approve stuff subject to $conditions
- Roger: FusExec established a CFV process tonight
- State organising teams the other main item
- Other people aren't quite getting the point yet
- That video idea has gotten a reworked script
- Self-hosting email is doable, but deliverability has never been worse
- Fusion is most likely about to adopt Google Workspace
- Andrew sees "role as mailbox" as a win
- Current setup is "person-as-mailbox" with "position-as-list"
- PPAU itself doesn't need Workspaces per se, it's just nice to have
- https://pad.pirateparty.org.au/p/email_suggestions
- Alex, Satch, Bryn delegated to look into it
