We emailed all minor parties stating our intent to preference transparently and democratically, each party was invited to reply with an invitation to Pirate Party members to preference their party. Explanation of our request, intent and the email we sent, is available in our press release here: https://pirateparty.org.au/2013/07/18/pirate-party-leads-the-way-with-transparent-preferencing/

Email response from the Family First Party (Dated 15 July 2013)

Family First lives by the motto ‘Everybody knowing everything all the time’. We start every day with that reminder.

Governments would do well to adopt that same principle.

I like the Texas State Government’s practice of putting every cheque written by the government on their website. Texas taxpayers can see where every dollar is being spent and on whom.

Regarding preferences, if all the minor parties preference each other before the major parties and the Greens (and Nick Xenophon in SA) there is a good chance one of them will get up and prevent the sixth Senate spot in each State from going to a major party or the Greens. Family First would certainly be willing to preference the Pirate Party before the majors, Greens and Nick Xenophon in SA.
