Committee and Working Group Restructuring Plans

Propose renaming "Working Group" to "Team"

  • "Teams" sounds better & more human, and already have it for Press Team

Create Social Media Team

  • Had been planned in some way since pre-election
  • Brendan proposes creating a Social Media Team, with a terms of reference, and create the position of Social Media Officer
  • See motions
  • Thomas to continue as main facebook person

Collapse Campaigns, split into smaller functions

  • Brendan proposes to collapse campaigns into smaller groups:
    • Design Team
    • Procurement Team
    • Events Team
  • campaigns is too broad
    • not to blame individuals but rather the stucture is flawed
    • procurement did not work in practice
    • separate teams mean less layers
  • drop events team for now, do social media team, design team, procurement team. Proposed that:
    • Procurement Team should have a leader + someone to procure things in each state and territory.
    • Design Team should have a leader and as many designers as necessary for everything.
  • After much dicussion, NC to inform Campaigns Committee of intent to collapse into the smaller groups and request feedback/consultation from campaigns committee.
    • recognition that restructuring needs to occur, but that existing campaigns committee should be consulted

State Branches

  • This is a priority
  • Brendan will tweak the sign up form to handle different states
  • Mozart and Brendan will work on a constitution template
  • MarkG will make a list all the differences between state electoral acts (eg: how many members you need, cost of party registration, mandatory positions)
  • Need to write a detailed process on forming states: "Dummies' Guide to Forming State Branches" - Tap Mozart
    • basically, "make a working group first" so you don't need a bank account, eg "NSW Branch Working Group", for instance, that way can accept donations through the federal party etc etc
