Minutes
Fusion Constitutional Committee report-back
- Question one was: "What's everyone's approval process?"
- PPAU's process and limits outlined
- Climate Emergency's constitution is already generally structured in to allow for affiliate branches in an alliance structure, so it's more whether we agree with the specific choices and decisions they made
- Interesting parts being CE's four main goals
- "Do we object to any of those four? If so, that's a problem. Supporting additional goals is OK, of course."
- There's a question of prioritisation in the wording but it shouldn't be an existential-level blocker
- They are, unsurprisingly, hard prioritising action on climate
- Preferably, however, there would be some modification to those goals
- "The Fusion level constitution should avoid policy mandates as much as possible." - Miles
- The wording around branches is fairly detailed
- It seems compatible enough that we can get by without _requiring_ changes
- "The intention wasn't meant to be to force groups into complying with the constitution, it's to meet the AEC deadline" - Roger
- "They expect to need it to change in the future, but any must-do changes need to be finalised by this weekend to have an SGM before Dec. 2" - Andrew
- "I think if we can get them to change "number one priority" to "equal highest priority" and add a fifth Free Culture goal, that would be sufficient for us." - Alex
- "Adrian anticipated a bit of this - they won't and can't police strict adherence to the goals"
- "I share concerns about taking this to an election" - Brandon
- Miles volunteers to take the lead on a proposal
- Generalise it, make it a little less prescriptive
- Keep in mind that Vote Planet aren't a singular entity right now either, the constitution we're affiliating into is already their merged constitution
Leadership structure bits
- We are taking on their governance structure in some ways
- Some people will stand down from their executive committee to facilitate Sci/Sec/Pir membership there over and above branch representation positions
Fusion Policy Committee report-back
- Collated policy into three shared areas and then specific areas
- Ethical Government, Environmentally Conscious, Individual Rights
- Pirate IP issues, Climate Emergency plus ultra, Secular Government focus
Stickers
- Miles: "I've been handing out stickers. Can we do another run so we've got a war chest?"
- General agreement
- $200 approved, exact designs at Alex and Miles' discretion
National Congress
- All the initial notifications and CAP announcements and stuff are done
- We need to sort out preselection processes next fortnight
- Actually, we need that earlier. That's Alex's Wednesday.
